Character Information

Name: Prince Leo of Nohr
Canon: Fire Emblem Fates
Canon Point: Post-Revelations
Age: Unclear, early twenties at most? Roughly twenty-two
History: Here
Personality: To understand how Leo became the person he did, it's best to understand that his homeland is not kind to people. Nohr is a harsh country and its people are rarely any different. This is especially true of Leo's father's court. Leo's father, King Garon, could never simply take a woman to bed and be done with it or love a woman and move on. He had to keep every single woman he ever loved or slept with, which meant there were a lot of concubines and their children in the Nohrian royal court. Leo grew up in a very Game-of-Thrones-esque environment, where his mother used him like his half-siblings were used and people murdered and manipulated each other in order to get what they wanted out of life.

This left Leo with a strong attachment to his remaining siblings. He will do anything for them even at the cost of himself so long as what they're doing is right and important (key word being "right", Leo has Standards), and he will do it so they don't have to. He is the second son and not in line for any royal titles; he feels he is the one best able to do what must be done as it doesn't matter if people like him or if he angers the wrong person. Better it fall on his shoulders that on the shoulders of someone who is more important in the grand scheme of things.

That doesn't mean he thinks that he's worthless, however. Leo prides himself on being strong enough to not need help from others (or so he thinks) and he knows exactly how powerful a mage he is. He thinks of himself as expendable if it furthers the plans of his siblings, but he knows that he is also irreplaceable. No one else could use Brynhildr, no one else has his tactical mind, no one else could do what he does half as well. He is a talented adviser, and so that is what he does.

Leo isn't entirely cold, however. Yes, he is very to the point and blunt and he does mess around when it comes to work, but when he's with the people he loves and cares for he's a remarkably sweet and considerate boy. Brynhildr's powers include the creation of plants, and Leo regularly uses this ability to create tomatoes (his favorite food) for himself and others because he wants to make his friends and family happy. This is one way to do it that doesn't require him to do the dirty work.

He can also be a bit distracted. Leo doesn't like mornings, always preferring to sleep in, and while it's unknown if this is because he's up late or if he just isn't a morning person it does have the hilarious side-effect of Leo often wearing his clothing inside out or otherwise wearing them awkwardly. Whenever it comes up, he asks that the person bringing it up never mention it again for the sake of his pride.

It takes a lot for him to completely loosen up, but it can be done and when it is he will admit to his insecurities. He's rather feminine and that bothers him sometimes, he feels that he isn't as loved as his sibling Corrin is, things like that. These things are rarely shared, however, as there are few people Leo trusts enough to let his guard down.

Abilities: Leo's most notable ability is being able to use the sacred tome Brynwildr, said to be the most finicky and difficult to use magic tome in the world. It takes great magical power to control it, and the user is rewarded with powerful gravity magic and deadly, dangerous trees that grow at the whim of the user.

Aside from his considerable magical ability, Leo is also a skilled horseman, riding one into battle, and passable with a sword. He's not amazing with it, but he is more than capable of slicing someone down if need be. Outside of martial skills, Leo is the best tactician Nohr has and incredibly intelligent. He can read people remarkably well, though he isn't perfect, and he uses this to his advantage whenever possible. He's polite enough not to flaunt it, at least.

Leo can also be assumed to have some skill in politics as he is a prince, although this never comes up in canon. He doesn't see much of a use for it anyway as he's generally not sent to make someone like him, though he's very good at making it seem like he's done or agrees with whoever when he doesn't.

Strengths: Intelligent, independent, loyal, focused, fearless.
Weaknesses: Distant, unwilling to ask for help, blunt, self-sacrificing, uncompromising.

God/Shinki: God
Why?: Leo is one of the most powerful people in his homeworld, as well as determined to do whatever needs to be done for the sake of the people in his country. He wouldn't know what to do with himself if he wasn't in control.
Top 3 Choices: Odin, Thoth, Forseti
God Type: Leo will strive to be worthy of his new title, but he will admittedly forgo any aspects of his predecessor that he doesn't care for. He will look for prayers for protection, self-improvement, and will likely take the jobs that no one wants to take but that he feels needs to be done.
Power: Gravity manipulation (no longer than about thirty minutes (depending on the size of the thing and if the thing can fight back) up to about fifteen feet around him in either direction)

Writing Sample

Sample: The door opened and shut quietly behind him. Leo didn't look up from his work; he knew who had come in and he knew they wouldn't say anything if he didn't. Therefore, he wasn't going to say anything. He wasn't in the mood to talk, and the second he said something his guest would use that as a chance to distract him long enough that the exhaustion from two days on six hours of sleep would hit him and he'd go to bed.

He couldn't afford to go to bed right now, not with so much work still to be done. There were rebels in the east that needed to be taken care off, trade missives from Corrin in Valla to look over before passing them off to Xander, letters from unhappy nobels that he needed to read and burn...

"My lord."

Leo's pen paused. It looked as if his plan needed to change.

"Niles." He still didn't look up. "Is something wrong?"

"Your sister asked me to check up on you. What should I tell her?"

He smiled softly to himself. Thank the gods for Niles. "Tell her I will go to sleep when I am done with my work." He didn't mention that he would never be done with his work, and Niles didn't point that out. He simply bowed and left.

Alone, Leo went back to his work. He worked in silence for...he'd lost track. His mind was slowly getting fuzzy, and the words were beginning to swim. That was fine, he still had some potion that would wake him up...

The moment Leo stood, his knees felt weak and he had to grasp the desk to stay upright. His potion wouldn't prevent that from happening, and how embarrassing would it be to let someone find him collapsed on the floor from exhaustion? Still, his work...

His work would have to wait; his body was not going to let him continue working, clearly, and sleeping was less of a waste of time than being sick was.

Leo stumbled over to his bed, hardly bothering with undressing before he collapsed on his pillow. He'd change in the morning.

Anything Else?: I would like Leo's shinki to be Niles!
